BEFORE & AFTER SCHOOL CARE

Children love the Leapkids’ before and after hours programs. Not only are they a welcome break from the structured learning time of primary school, they also provide a wonderful opportunity for kids to socialise and interact with children outside of their immediate class room.

Our before and after care programs have been the start of many great friendships. They are also the perfect time for kids to relax, have a snack and explore interests that are not always catered to within the school curriculum.

Children in our before and after school care programs constantly benefit from making new friends, learning about the values of friendship and diversity, and having the opportunity to do homework or free play in a safe and supportive environment.

Late Collection Fees

Children are expected to be picked up no later than 6.00pm. A late fee of $2.00 per minute will be charged per child for late collection of children. This fee is charged in order to cover staff costs. You will need to notify the service if you will not be able to collect your child/children by 6:00pm due to unavoidable circumstances.

Payments

Payments are processed fortnightly via the following methods:

  • Direct Deposit into our Bank account
  • Phone using Credit/Debit card

Child Care Benefit (CCB) and Child Care Rebate (CCR)

Leapkids is an approved and registered Australian child care provider.  Eligible parents may utilise the Federal Government’s Child Care Benefit and/or Child Care Rebate schemes for our services.  

In order for us to apply CCB and/or CCR to your account, you MUST provide us with both your child's CRN Number and the corresponding parent's CRN Number. If you are not registered for CCB/CCR, please contact the Family Assistance Office on 13 61 50.  

Permanent booking:

This type of booking is for children who will use the service on specific days each week, and ensure that your child always has a place on the day/days that you specify. Notification of change to permanent bookings should be made via email to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. providing at least 7 days’ notice.

Casual booking:

These bookings can be made up to 24 hours in advance. We are also able to accept casual bookings on the same day that care is required, provided we have places available. Please note that casual bookings cannot always be guaranteed. For all bookings, please contact us on 1300 366 235

Breakfast & Afternoon Snack

We provide breakfast in before school care and a healthy snack in after school care. Should your child/children have any food allergies, please disclose this information on the enrolment form and discuss with Leapkids management.

Behavior 

At Leapkids, we encourage positive behavior at all times. Our staff adopt the the ‘Key Components of Guiding Children’ which include the following:

  • Understanding that all behaviour has meaning;
  • Working with the child, not against them;
  • Knowing each child in your care;
  • Acknowledging each child’s individuality;
  • Building a relationship based on mutual respect;
  • Planning to meet the needs of each child;
  • Creating a supportive environment;
  • Using a range of behaviour guidance tools; and
  • Be willing to teach and guide children in a supportive way.

Inappropriate/dangerous behavior

Should a child’s behavior impact on the safety and well-being of others, the parent, guardian or care giver will be contacted to discuss the behavior and work towards implementing positive strategies to improve the behavior, and/or consider alternative arrangements.

SunSmart

Leapkids Sun Smart policy will be enforced from September through to April. Please ensure our child brings a hat and sun screen for our programs operating during this period. Remember, No Hat, No Outdoor Play!

At Leapkids, your child’s safety and well-being is very important to us.  To ensure that we provide the best possible care for your child, we require the following:

  • A copy of your child’s Immunisation Record MUST be provided with each enrolment.
  • If your child suffers from anaphylaxis, asthma, allergies or any medically diagnosed condition, you MUST provide a current medical management plan, anaphylaxis management plan or risk minimization plan signed by your doctor with a recent colour photo of your child.  
  • Written information regarding any cultural, religious, dietary requirements or additional needs.

Nut Free Program

Leapkids is a 'Nut Free' service. Please ensure your child doesnot bring food that contains nuts to the program.

At Leapkids, we support all children to participate in our programs.  In order to provide quality and responsive care that meets the needs of a child with additional needs, we will require at least 4 weeks’ notice prior to the start of the program.

We treat each case individually and will make decisions based on the needs of the child, and availability of appropriately qualified staff and resources.
